BORN SYDNEY OCTOBER
1952
Began playing bass
guitar age 16 in high school band ‘BLACK ROSE’ in Sydney’s southern suburbs
at halls and high school dances.
Played
Sydney’s pubs and clubs during early 70’s playing Crosby, Stills and Nash to
Hendrix with ‘INTO’.
Moved to
Murwillumbah and formed ‘PERFECT STRANGERS’ which played extensively on the
North Coast in the early 80’s from Grafton to Coolangatta at many popular
venues in Byron Bay and Lismore. We supported many of the major touring
bands of that decade including DRAGON, DIVINYLS, ICEHOUSE, KIDS IN THE
KITCHEN, and PSEUDO ECHO at the larger club venues such as the Lismore
Workers Club, Ballina RSL etc.
Toured
briefly with jazz band ‘KEYS’ playing original score to a live theatre
production.
Late 80’s
played mainly blues and contemporary pop with ‘REDS’, ‘TICKET TO MARS’,
RICHARD AND THE POORBOYS’, LUCY de SOTO with Rose Tattoo guitarist Pete
Wells, ‘STINGRAY’and ‘TEQUILA SLAMMERS’ at popular Gold Coast
Venues such as The
Playroom, The Patch, The Jet Club and the Port-o-Call Hotel.
Early 90’s
played in Rock’n’roll outfit ‘ROCKIN REDBACKS’, fronted by English
entertainer Steve Wooley. Played for R&R dance clubs at Surfers Paradise and
South Tweed Bowls clubs, including the finals at the Wintersun dance
competition at Twin Town Services Club. Recorded tracks on first two
Wintersun CD’s.
This was
followed by a four year stint with popular North Coast band ‘LATE SHOW’.
Played in
two R&B outfits, ‘THE BREEZE’ and ‘CRABCLAW’ which played many pubs and
clubs including a residency at Seagulls Club and Bilambil Blues Club.
Played
with Irish band ‘OZ-DELI’ on the Irish Pub circuit in Brisbane and South
East Queensland.
Played
2002 with original trio ‘THREE DAYS OFF’, playing Northern Rivers circuit,
And with the
internationally famous singer/guitarist/ folk dancer Jackie McDonald as the
Mexicans.
2003 began playing
with James T, former lead singer/guitarist with American band Canned Heat,
and internationally renowned harmonica player Doc Span, playing many gigs
including Byron Bay’s East Coast Blues and Roots Festival 2004 and 2005,
and Woodford Folk Festival 2005 , Broadbeach Blues Festival 2004 and 2005,
Belingan Blues and Jazz Festival 2006, Ipswitch Jazz Festival 2005
supporting Grace Knight, and 2006 supporting Vince Jones with this lineup.
Played Woodford Folk
Festival 2006 promoting “The Gift” C.D. with members of stringmansassy,
Women in Docs, Christina Olsen. Played “The Gift” concert at Gold Coast
Arts Centre with Rose Bygrave of the Goanna Band, Kerry Jacobsen from
Dragon, and Kirk Lorange.
